The Full moon in Aries, an Ogun Pataki and Tools During Transformation

This week we are experiencing a Full Moon in Aries and it’s really kicking up some shit, if I do say so myself lol. Whew. Are you all as tired as me? Are you feeling burnt out and emo too? Lordt, The celestial world is putting in work as we are simultaneously moving through these trying and heartbreaking times. It’s been hard to feel energized as we witness so much pain around us and within us. It is truly speaking to matters of the heart and this makes me think so much about the Orisha who is associated with the full moon in Aries, Ogun.

The Orisha Ogun rules the heart chakra. He clears pathways, specifically in relation to blockages in the body. Ogun teaches us about assertiveness, taking initiative and lives in the first house of the zodiac, the ascendant sign. Ogun rules the heart, kidney, adrenal glands, and tendons- in Candomble, Ogun lives in our achilles heel and is the ase that pushes us forward, once Exu has opened the roads.

This full moon is following the Libra eclipse that occurred on Oct 2nd. Libra rules our relationships, harmony and sweetness. The eclipse put a magnifying glass to the relationships in our lives- the one with ourselves, with our intimate relationships, communally, globally, with the earth and as we are seeing in real time, with the climate.

All encompassing relational dynamics.

We’ve been in the feeeeels and you may be feeling kinda raw or maybe definitely, exhausted. The universe is always benevolent and moves into the fire energy of Aries this week. Helping us to transmute the things keeping us down, clearing them away and strengthening our heart space for a greater capacity of love.

All we need is a little tenderness and we’ll get just that after we allow ourselves to step into the fire – Just as Ogun, the blacksmith, takes different metals and puts them in the fire to shape them into tools. He bends and cuts the pieces of metal, transforming them into a useful, sharp and intentional tools. * Deep Woosah Breath* BE the tool. Something that I’ve learned along my journey of life so far is that we are stronger as soon as we are on the other side of the fire. We step into the fire, get our Targaryen on and truly burn off the stagnancy. In that process we learn what needs to be released to step, not only ON to the path but to maintain stride.

The culmination of this full moon has been a rough one. With the continued bombings of our kin in Palestine and Lebanon, the colonization of indigenous lands and extraction of ancestral technologies, more natural disasters, an upcoming election... .the list unfortunately goes on and so does the pain as we struggle for harmony and a cease to the atrocities. The conversations, opinions and sometimes the lack there of, have caused lots of relationships to come into question. This period has shed light on what and who may need to be let go of. Ogun is depicted holding a machete, not only is he a blacksmith making tools, he utilizes those tools to cut and chop away- clearing the pathways.

What are you stepping into the fire with? What are you hoping to be molded into?  How will you use those tools for greater good?

As always, I am coming through with some tips on ways that we can allow Ogun’s ase to be felt and cultivated.

  • If you find yourself feeling stagnant, sluggish or low vibrational, consider active movement. The act of movement allows us to quite literally move that stagnancy out of our body and transform it into energetic lightness, a brighter mood, clearer mind and/ or space to connect with yourself.
  • Clearing your energy field and home with white fire limpias.
  • Doing candle meditations / scrying
  • Taking herbs for heart and circulatory health. This can be helpful to assist us in clearing the heart and kidney pathways. Helping our bodies to have the supplemental energy for alchemizing things like fear, grudges and grief to be transmuted into courage, strength and love. Herbs: Hawthorne Berry, Motherwort, Nettles, Tarragon, Parsley and Garlic.

Sending you all so much love during this transit <3
